Vehicle Description By the mid-1950s, Austin-Healey had plenty of success from sales of its 100-4 and 100-6.
Problem was, not everyone could afford the so-called Big Healeys.
Austin boss Leonard Lord and Austin-Healey chief Donald Healey got together on an idea for a small, inexpensive sports car that would sell strongly in both European and American markets.
The result was the first Austin-Healey Sprite.
- Motortrend This 1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite is finished in Old English White with a black interior and black top with tonneau cover.
The paint although 45 years old, shows well with the expected imperfection of older finishes.
There is no observable rust seen on the finish, the underside presents well with some areas of minor surface rust only.
The presentation of the factory spartan black interior shows well with no areas of excessive wear.
The black vinyl top is in very good condition with a clear rear window, the black side curtains and tonneau are also in good condition.
The 948cc motor now showing 76,650 miles runs great and pulls strong as the SU carburetors perform their magic.
Presented with vintage luggage and white wall tires, this car is a blast to drive although you will not run 10 seconds on the drag strip I guarantee you will have more fun cruising through the back roads.
